A Satirical Comedy by Mary O’Malley

“Now you all know what this is. It’s the Our Lady of Fatima knicker and it’s the only type of knicker we want to see worn at this school.”

Set in the 1950’s, Once a Catholic is an extremely funny comedy based on schooldays in a convent. The girls must deal with the equal pressures of exams, boys and the sadistic Sisters that teach them, whilst ensuring they do not risk eternal damnation by committing too many mortal sins. Filled with more characters called Mary than you could imagine and Nuns named after male saints, this play is a marvellously irreverent, affectionate and funny view on the resilience of children and their ability to survive in spite of, not because of their upbringing.

"Sharp, evocative... play that will be a source of much merriment among the devout and lapsed."
