When an Italian tenor has fallen into a drunken stupor, his docile assistant, with operatic ambitions takes over and wins acclaims as Otello. When the tenor awakes and dons his costume confusion and hilarious comedy prevails ,as we now have two Moors absurdly confused by swooning females.
Add a volatile Italian wife, an outrageous bellhop and a cynical impresario and you have the recipe for a classical farce.
