Following a chance meeting one rainy night, Maurice Bendrix is asked by his friend to investigate his wife Sarah’s suspected affair, he agrees but with ulterior motives; Maurice was also once Sarah’s lover. He succumbs to jealousy and tortured by the thought that some other man is enjoying her pleasures he becomes resolutely determined to uncover her new lover’s identity, with his fervour and obsessions driving him to uncover the truth behind the ending of their own affair, at any cost.
An intense drama from a classic novelist dealing with themes of passion, hate, revenge and spirituality.
