Dramatized account of the true story of the murder of the well-known architect Francis Rattenbury and subsequent trial of his young wife and her even younger lover for the crime (at the time still a capital offence).
Rattenbury had met and married the much younger and beautiful Alma (for whom he left his then wife) in Canada and returned to England to avoid the inevitable scandal.
By 1935 he was aging and drinking too much and his relationship with Alma was no more than cordial. Unsatisfied, she struck up an affair with the boy they employed – a drop out who came to dominate Alma.
