Diana organises a tea party for a friend whose fiancé has drowned. The aim is to cheer him up with a gathering of old friends. Underneath the comic and satirical by-play there is a warm sensitivity for humanity with its frustrations, its bewilderment and the sadness that lies in the helplessness of the people who populate his plays.
Margaret Speakes has the golden touch with Ayckbourn, having won awards for both acting in and directing his work.
