Thank you for registering your interest in the GMDF production of Theatre on the Meadow.

The event will be staged on the wonderful and very large large field at Woodford Community Centre, Chester Road, Woodford, Stockport. SK7 1PS  www.woodfordcom.com  Friday July 15th, Saturday July 16th and Sunday July 17th 2022 – Gate opening during the afternoon. Attendees will be able to bring their picnics and then settle down to watch a fabulous piece of theatre produced and supported by some of the best amateur theatre talent in the North West.

The play to be performed will be that wonderful comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

GMDF wants to produce something that gives our membership an opportunity to be involved in an innovative theatre production during the challenging times in which we all find ourselves. We are very excited about this venture and hope that you are too.

It is a big undertaking which will require a great deal of support in addition to the more obvious areas of cast and Director. There is a set of stats somewhere that tells us how many people are required to put one person on stage, well this will be one of those events when the ratio is very high – but so worth it!

To that end would you please complete the form below and send it off to us asap in order that we may progress getting the various “teams” together. Each Board member will be heading up a “department” and overseeing recruitment of help etc.

We appreciate that Woodford is not round the corner for some of you but it would be lovely to have you on board no matter where in the GMDF family you reside. It’s always nice to put faces to names and to get together and contribute to doing something about which we are all passionate.

We hope that your appetite has now been whetted for an exciting outdoor theatre experience.

GMDF very much wants this to be a “GMDF family” collaboration. GMDF is paying for this so no contribution to costs will be sought from member societies or their members. The ethos is about doing something for the members. We are not looking to make mega-profit; we are only looking to break even and give our membership and in turn its memberships an opportunity to take part in an outdoor theatre event.

Woodford has become the venue of choice as it has a building, a carpark, a large field, running water and electricity all in one place. We appreciate that it is not in the middle of the Grtr Mcr area but there was nowhere else that ticked all the boxes.

Entry to the event will be by ticket only (TicketSource) and there will be security on the gate to catch any “gatecrashers”. Gates will be open from 2pm and attendees are invited to bring rugs, chairs, and picnics. A bar will be provided by Woodford Centre. Food stalls will be available.

The play choice is Shakespeare’s – Much Ado about Nothing, a wonderful comedy with a cast of 17 / 18. This is obviously a fantastic challenge for a creative Director and a willing and flexible cast. Just like any other production an army of support will be required, FOH, props, frocks, publicity etc.

Acting auditions will be held on 16th January 2022 12.30pm at Woodford Community Centre, Chester Rd, Woodford. SK7 1PS. Map
