Junk Casting Requirements
Due to the content of this play, all actors cast will be aged 18+.
Tar Playing age 14-18
Tar runs away his small hometown to Bristol because his dad is violent, and his mother has a drink problem. He lives on the streets and then in squats and he persuades his girlfriend Gemma to join him in Bristol. The two later become addicted to heroin, with Tar’s addiction consuming his life and leading to time in and out of rehab and prison. Tar is vulnerable and likeable, and the audience must feel empathy with him despite his difficulties.
Gemma-Playing age 14-18
Gemma runs away from her small hometown to Bristol because she feels her parents are too bossy, and she wants to be with Tar who she is in love with. Gemma is always seeking a good time and she hates being told what to do. She becomes addicted to heroin and works
