To mark the centenary of the start of WWI we bring you this chronicle of the war. The show was devised by Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop in 1963 and was the result of close co-operation between writer, actors and director. The team researched the period and brought their material to life. It won the acclaim of audiences and critics and the Grand Prix of the Theatre des Nations festival in Paris in 1963 and has become a classic of the modern theatre.
