Celebration of the Best Choral and Brass Band Music

Two of Saddleworth's oldest societies, Saddleworth Musical Society under the musical direction of Peter Wakefield and Boarshurst Silver Band under the musical direction of James Garlick, have teamed up for the first time for a Spring Concert full of the best music for choir and brass band.

There'll be all the drama of O Fortuna from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and a suite of well-known numbers from Gilbert and Sullivan. A moving sequence of music recalling VE day 75 years ago which will include the haunting Hymn to the Fallen and a re-creation of the moment when the Military Wives first sang for the Festival of Remembrance.

Items from African Sanctus to Wagner's Tannhäuser and a host of other favourites complete the programme.
