The classic 60's generation gap comedy.
Rafe Crompton is not a stern man, but he is used to ruling the house, and has such unswerving integrity that his family is forced to hide their slight peccadilloes from him. His younger daughter Hilda particularly resents this and her refusal to eat a herring which is placed before her at dinner soon makes the situation explosive, as truths begin to surface.
