GMDF Member Societies’ Acting Auditions, Plays, Musicals and Pantomimes

Children’s auditions will be held on Sunday 22nd October 2017 at 2pm and will take place at Studio 9, Hyde.

Play Dates are 17th-20th February 2018. Performes will be at Hyde Festival Theatre.

We are looking for 5 young performers, who need to have strong vocal qualities, can adopt a southern accent and are able to convey a range of emotions convincingly.

The characters are:

William Beech: aged 10 An evacuee from London

Zacharias Wrench (Zach) Aged 10/12. Outgoing, Friendly and very theatrical

Ginnie and Carrie aged 10/12. Should be twins but otherwise just sisters. Ginnie is more mischievous. Carrie more serious.

George aged 12. Teases the evacuees but becomes friendly with William.

There are opportunities also for extra children in the play.

Audition pieces can be collected from Studio 9 on Thursday 12th October between 7.30pm-8.30pm.

One of the most uplifting stories ever written, Michelle Magorian’s stunning Goodnight Mister Tom is brought gloriously to life in this stage adaptation by David Wood – the UK’s ‘National Children’s Dramatist’ (The Times). Set during the dark and dangerous build-up to the Second World War, Goodnight Mister Tom follows sad young William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and builds a remarkable and moving friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley. All seems perfect until William is devastatingly summoned by his mother back to London.
