GMDF Member Societies’ Acting Auditions, Plays, Musicals and Pantomimes

Cast: 4 male, 8+ female

Set in a girls’ convent grammar school in the suburbs of Liverpool around the middle of the last century (i.e. the dark ages), this jolly romp of a play will feature up to seven 15-16 year-old schoolgirls called Mary (3 with major parts, the rest with a few lines each but featuring in lots of scenes throughout the play), plus three sadomasochistic nuns, a priest whose intentions we can only guess at, a male music teacher ditto, and a couple of hapless boyfriends of the main Mary’s. Accents can range from Dublin through Scouse to... anywhere at all, really. Geordie might be nice? .But a broad range would make life interesting, for us and the audience.

The main thing the cast will need is a strong commitment to ensemble playing, a sense of the ridiculous and a desire to have fun – while working very, very hard. Like any comedy, the actors must take it extremely seriously, with great precision and attention to detail. And may Our Blessed Lady of Fatima be with us...
