Jenkins is the hottest ticket in town, an enthusiastic soprano with less than perfect pitch, she warbles and screeches her way through arias by Mozart and Strauss, accompanied by her trusty pianist. But this delusional and joyously happy woman pays little attention to her critics, and surrounds herself with devoted friends and fans nearly as eccentric as herself.

Based upon a true story, the play follows Florence through charity recitals, balls, bizarre recording sessions, and ultimately to her triumphant performance at Carnegie Hall.

CHARACTERS

FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS - Eccentric American lady 60-70's. When she sings badly she hears the voice of an angel. (Helpful if the actress can sing and has some knowledge of Opera)

COSME McMOON - Male 30's American pianist. Good comic timing. Piano playing not require but would be an excellent addition!

ST CLAIR - Male 60-70's. Florence's English boyfriend. Full of enthusiasm, thinks the world of Florence.

DOROTHY - 60-70's Florence's friend also eccentric and thinks Florence can sing.

MARIA - Female 30's Mexican cook/maid. Can't speak a word of English. Very funny part.

MRS VERRINDER-GEDGE - American 40's upwards. Disgusted at Florence murdering the operas. Small part
