Secondary Cause of Death is a comedy by Peter Gordon.

The playing dates for this cracking comedy are 21st – 24th November 2018 at Woodford Community Centre. Sheryl Haydock-Howorth is in the Driector’s chair for this one and she is very much looking forward to the fun! Any queries please email Sheryl.

The character breakdown is as follows:

COLONEL CHARLES CRADDOCK age late 50’s +

Retired gent with a confident military air but blustery manner. This character also doubles as Cardew Longfellow (see below) some quick changes of costume so needs to be agile at crawling off stage through a  small secret space

CARDEW LONGFELLOW

Thespain with a loud OTT booming voice who is quite haughty.  Doubles with the Colonel

Lady Isadora Pollock age 40’s

Glamourous and elegant woman must be able to change her accent for coarse American accent when she becomes a rather seductive character in the staged murder mystery

Count Puchlik  of Puszczykowo  40-50

Polish Gentleman, with a pronounced East European accent and speaks very bad English slowly and deliberately .  Also speaks with a German at certain times

Captain Henrietta Woolmer-Cardington 30’s

An ATS (Army Territorial Services) dressed in uniform and has breeding.  She also  a bit school girlish and endearingly stupid.  She CANNOT pronounce her ‘Rs’

Cynthia Maple – middle aged

Comes to stage a murder mystery evening, she is overbearing brusque and has a caustic manner wears a tweed skirt and baggy jumper

Martha Armstrong ( Housekeeper) – 50’s

Has a working class accent either Northern or Cockney

Lily Tuthill – Cook in disguise 50’s  

Also has a broad Northern or Cockney Accent which she changes with her dual character as a secret agent

Inspector Pratt – 50+

Is a clumsy buffoon who gets everything wrong, he is inept and a walking disaster he’s a bit like Peter Sellers in The Pink Panther. Has to have excellent timing.

Nurse Ann Parsley – young 25-30

Attractive and flirty with a cheeky attitude

Secondary Cause of Death is a comedy thriller by Peter Gordon.  Cast – 3 male  6 female

It’s 1939, and storm clouds are gathering over Europe. Colonel Charles Craddock has inherited Bagshot House, and he has converted the property into a hotel for the “discerning visitor”. It isn’t long before the hapless Inspector Pratt arrives once again at Bagshot House, bearing grim news for the Colonel. But that’s only the start of the Colonel’s woes! Who is the strange Polish Count? Is Henrietta really an army captain? And where does the flamboyant thespian Cardew Longfellow fit into the picture? When Joan Maple’s sister Cynthia arrives to stage a murder mystery evening, it’s not long before Pratt’s visit turns into a chaotic nightmare as the bodies pile higher than ever!
