One of the greatest American musicals, Gypsy has appeared on Broadway no less than 5 times and the recent West End revival of Gypsy marked the first showing of the widely celebrated musical in London in over 40 years!

The musical is famous for helping to launch the career of lyricist Stephen Sondheim, who went on to write complete musical scores of his own. Arthur Laurents wrote the book of the musical, and it is widely considered to be one of the classic examples of a traditional ‘book musical’ which became popular during the middle of the 20th Century.

The show is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with "the ultimate show business mother." The musical contains many songs that became popular standards, including "Everything's Coming up Roses", "Together (Wherever We Go)", "Small World", "You Gotta Get a Gimmick", "Let Me Entertain You", "All I Need Is the Girl", and "Rose's Turn".
